Submissions
TriQuarterly welcomes submissions of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, short drama, and hybrid work. We also welcome short-short prose pieces. We ask that poets submit only six poems per cycle and prose authors limit each piece to 3,500 words. We especially are interested in work that embraces the world and continues, however subtly, the ongoing global conversation about culture and society that TriQuarterly pursued from its beginning in 1964. TriQuarterly pays honoraria for creative work.
We only accept pieces submitted online via our Submission Manager. Please do not email your piece to us; it will be discarded unread. We do not accept mailed submissions. We do not publish creative work by current Northwestern MA/MFA students or those who have graduated from our program within the past five years, or by program faculty. We do not accept previously published work. We will accept multiple prose submissions per author. Please limit formats to .doc, .docx, .rtf, and PDF. We suggest keeping your font to 12-point Times New Roman and double-spacing all prose submissions. Poets, please submit your work in one document.
While we accept simultaneous submissions in all genres, please email us immediately at tqpoetry@u.northwestern.edu to notify us of any status changes regarding your poetry submission. You can withdraw your prose at any time using Submission Manager.
If you would like to review books or literary events, interview an author, or propose a craft essay, please submit your query online with "query-review," etc., as the title. TriQuarterly is published twice a year. The blog, reviews, and other features are refreshed weekly.
Reading Period:
We accept submissions from October 16 to July 15. The online Submission Manager will not be open to submissions between July 16 and October 15, however you will be able to log in to update your account and check submission status during that time.
